Backtracks Switchboard™ provides additional data and capabilities for your podcast. By claiming a podcast, the owner of the podcast or a representative that they approve will have access to manage the Switchboard™ account for the podcast. This includes customizing the look and feel of a branded RSS feed, custom podcast players, etc. This does not transfer ownership of your podcast or anything similar outside of Backtracks and is strictly related to who has the rights to manage a Backtracks Switchboard™ account for a podcast.
One of the primary benefits of claiming a podcast and verifying ownership on Switchboard™ is that this enables the podcast owner or a designated representative to get verified third-party podcast analytics that are Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) compliant while allowing you the option to change hosting providers over time and have consistent metrics. This is extremely powerful as publishers will not lose data or have podcast analytics lock-in with their hosting provider (i.e. there is no fear in finding a different host for your podcast). This also means that publishers will not have to explain to advertisers changes in hosting providers and technology over time because Backtracks Podcast Analytics and Switchboard™ data just works (to the tune of over 40 billion minutes of audio going through the system). Backtracks Switchboard™ data is real-time, may be analyzed and/or exported at any time.
Backtracks is not a content creator, a consumer listening platform, a publisher, an advertiser, etc. Backtracks builds tools that enable publishers to know and grow their audiences.
